Worship Ministry Team
The Purpose of First Pres Yakima:
Reaching those unconnected to Jesus and together, Worshiping God and Growing in Christ-like maturity Impacting our coummunity and the world.
The Worship Ministry Team (WMT) meets the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 in Room 203. Team members include:
Doug Cairns (chair), Pat Park, Rhodi Tenney, Marj Peters,
Merle Smith, Dorothy Smith, Donna Fuhlman, Gordon Leavitt,
Sharon Trick, Curt Mc Farland and Debbie Kent.
-- Strategies related to “together worshipping God” How is God leading the WMT in planning strategies that will lead our congregation in worshipping God with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength?
- Strive for worship at FPC that is Christ centered, friendly, inviting, vibrant, creative, well planned and executed, authentic, prayerful, relevant/personal application, intentional in connecting with Jesus.
- Hire a Worship Ministry Director and a Temple Choir Director who may also be one-in-the same person.
- Improve the media-sound system/with an eye to future needs.
- Facilitate a shift in radio broadcast to reach Yakima Valley more effectively.
- Give the congregation opportunities to have a voice in worship. Assess all services and how to best meet needs.
- Explore the addition of a Sunday service that would be designed around needs of young families.
- Each ministry represented in Worship Ministries submit a strategy/strategies that their ministry area will focus on in “reaching those unconnected to Jesus and together growing into Christ-like maturity to impact our community and the world.”
