Small Acts Of Great Love - Together, we can make an impact!
This is my commandment - love one another. John 15:17
None of us can do great things on our own, but together, we can do small acts of great love.
Mother Theresa

Pastor Jack Peebles, on March 9, during his first sermon as Senior Pastor of First Pres Yakima, challenged each of us to do something small - with great love. It doesn't have to be huge - but it does have to be something. Together, through small acts with great love, we can make a tremendous impact on Yakima! Pastor Jack also asked you to email him about what you've done and how it's impacted you and this community. As stories are received, thay will be posted below, with your permission.

As a teacher, I can't imagine any more difficult and challenging teaching assignment than that of a subsitute teacher!  On the day before Spring Break this year, I noticed several were given and had accepted the difficult challenge of subbing on that particular Friday.  To thank and encourage them for their efforts with our kids and the much needed break for several of our teachers, my fellow coach and I provided lattes for all the subs in the building!  I explained to my fellow coach I was trying to do a "small act of great love" and she responded, "Let's do this again!" - Kay

Hi Pastor Jack, I shared love with my friend by watching her children for an evening.  This allowed her to have some needed time with other grown-ups without having to find and pay a babysitter.  I was happy to tend her children because she is my friend and I love her. - anonymous

I don't dwell on my "small acts" and rarely consider them as acts of love, kindness yes-- not so much my definition of love. But this has made me set down and figure out how I define love, what I want and recognize as an act of love from my husbnd and children (and from me to them).  Simple answer is Chocolate!!! I love running, it pains my husband, for me he is going to walk the 5K "Over the Dam" Run in Grand Coulee WA with our daughter so I will be free to jog the course. The date happens to be Mother's Day, I think it is one of his greatest gifts to me! - anonymous
