Bill Starr - Parish Associate

Dr. Bill Starr is our Parish Associate (volunteer staff) and has worked full-time as the Chaplain at the Sundown M Ranch for 11 years. He has been an ordained Presbyterian pastor for 32 years in churches in Richland, Washington, Irvine, California, Danville, California, and at Westminster Presbyterian in Yakima. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Religion from Whitman College, a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He also became a Chemical Dependency Professional in 2002, and received his Master of Addiction Counseling in 2004. He has been married to Kathy for 35 years, and they have two grown children: Laurel (30) of Walla Walla, and Joel (26) who lives in Puyallup with his wife Jaime since their wedding just over a year ago.
Bill is currently reading "These Signs Shall Follow" by Aaron McMahon, which was recommended by his daughter and by Bill Johnson, author of "When Heaven Invades Earth." These books are exciting, challenging and a bit scarry as they push an old Presbyterian to think and pray outside the box. They believe that God is still at work doing miracles today, and to pray that way. I'm not fully comfortable with the theology, but it certainly challenges me not to limit God and see what He can do if we just get out of His way. |
