Steve Barker - Pastor Emeritus

Known as the Rhino of First Presbyterian Church

Steve Barker joined the pastoral staff at FPC in 1984. He served as a campus pastor at Harvard, MIT, the Claremont Colleges, and Occidental College for 15 years. Steve also taught evangelism and campus ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary. He helped write two books on small groups: Small Group Leaders Handbook and Good Things Come in Small Groups. Steve is an evangelist and believes that God has an absolute claim on our lives as our Creator.

Steve was honored to be Pastor Emeritus when he contracted Parkinson’s Disease and retired with a disability in 2007.  He is married to Julie and has 4 biological sons and three others who have become a part of their family.
